can opener

I know any can opener would do, but I bought this one, cause it cuts from the side, and the cutter won't touch the food. Also you don't have to clean the lid as much as you would with the older style can opener. Would be useful if water became scarce. What do you think?

I've used one with that design, but I didn't pay twenty five freakin' dollars! Maybe $6. It allows you to use the cans for other projects, like buddy burners or hobo stoves.

Got the same design for $8 here:

They work well, I have used one for a few years now.

My wife has one from pampered chef. She probably over paid, but I really do like it. Thats all that really matters in the end anyway.

Over paying is all that really matters in the end? :bear_w00t:

I tried one that cuts from the side.

It broke after 6 months.

I bought a standard $2.49 model and it's been working for 10 years.

Speaking of can openers has anyone tried the P-51 (the P-38 big brother)? I tried one and it broke after about a month. I've had a P-38 for years and bought a few extras as well when I tried out the P-51. I'm with you RossL, tried the 'clean edge' design and it wouldn't open anything after about a year.

The pampered chef model that I over paid for still works great after 8+ years of use. Never had the first problem with it. Guess the old adage is true: You get what you pay for!

Re: can opener

I got so tired of standard can openers that either fell apart or wouldn't pierce the lid after a year, so I bought one of these. Some complain that the Rosle doesn't last long and costs too much, but I've had 3 yrs. good luck with mine - used every day. Link below, but might be less expensive elsewhere.
Take care,
Mod1
